01 — What it is

A structured space for
teachers who share students

Section Sync-Up is a teacher collaboration initiative that gives educators who share the same group of students dedicated time to connect, coordinate, and provide early support. Each meeting is fifteen minutes, held during homeroom and brings together all teachers who instruct that class.

The meeting follows an agenda designed to stay focused and useful within the time available.

02 — Why it matters

Making the invisible
visible

Students are often experiencing the same challenges across multiple classrooms simultaneously, but teachers rarely have a formal structure for sharing those observations. A student struggling with organization in Art may be struggling in exactly the same way in English and Math — but without a shared space to notice that pattern, each teacher responds in isolation.

Section Sync-Up creates the connective tissue between subject teachers that allows for a more holistic and coordinated response to student need. A small but intentional detail: tea is provided at every meeting. These sessions are held early in the morning, and the gesture signals that teacher's time and contributions are appreciated.

03 — How it works

Lightweight by design

The secondary homeroom teacher covers the participating teacher's homeroom class for the duration of the meeting, removing the barrier of coverage. Meetings are held in the art room. A section-specific Google Space keeps the conversation alive between meetings, and allows teachers who were unable to attend to stay informed and contribute.

The initiative was piloted this academic year with a commitment to assessing effectiveness of the program as to inform the following year's approach.

04 — Wellbeing framework connections

CASEL & PERMA

Section Sync-Up directly supports the CASEL competencies of Social Awareness and Responsible Decision-Making at the systems level — teachers who share information are better positioned to guide students collectively. Within the PERMA model, the Classroom Wins segment ensures that student Accomplishment and Positive Emotion are consistently named and acknowledged across multiple subject areas, strengthening the relational web that supports student belonging.
